OCCITANIE, A REGION MADE FOR CYCLISM
There are a thousand ways to enjoy cycling in Occitania, from quiet family rides - for a morning or a day - on one of the numerous greenways, to serious mountain bike rides in beautiful landscapes, and obviously the famous TDF stages.

Easy and accessible rides for everyone

Occitania offers a choice of 40 greenways, some of which extend over 100 kms. These routes are often designed on old railway lines, dedicated bike paths or river banks. No cars can use them.

The most famous greenways will allow you to discover national heritage like the Pont du Gard, landscapes marred in history such as the Cathar castles’ region or natural regional parks.

You will find all the greenways by area on the website of the French Association for the Development of Véloroutes and Greenways.

Theme routes for all your desires of discovery

In Occitania, countless theme tours will make you want to ride from village to village in search of cultural heritage gems, local products or good restaurants in the area.

In the Aveyron canyons, through the vastness of the Cevennes, in the heart of the Pyrenees... various  circuits are available to you to pedal among beautiful natural sites.

The paths are split into circuits of different levels. Fit riders will find a physical route that matches their expectations while family groups will be able to use all-level routes.

The Must

Bike fans come from farway to ride the Col du Tourmalet and the other famous passes of the Tour de France in the Pyrenees. Cycling is a serious matter in Occitania.

Interested to try riding the roads of Occitanie? The chateau de Saint-Martory is ideally located a short drive from several mythical passes of the Tour de France, including Portet d'Aspet, Menté, Port of Balés and Peyresourde. Every year, we welcome cyclists from around the world who come to ride on the stages that have made or undone champions but also in the nearby Petites Pyrénées which offer less  physical routes.

Contact us at info@saintmartory.com to enjoy riding out of a true chateau.
